Personal Debt Reduction

Personal debt reduction can be difficult, it is definitely possible if you follow a few tried-but-true debt reduction tactics.

  • Stop charging. The first step in personal debt reduction is to stop adding to your debt. If the temptation proves to be too much, leave the credit cards at home when you go shopping.
  • Don’t consolidate—eliminate. If you’ve been borrowing to pay, remember that you can’t charge your way out of debt. Make a firm decision to pay down debt instead of just moving it around.
  • Develop a plan. Having a personal debt reduction plan makes staying on top of your debt a little easier. It makes financial sense to focus on paying off the credit card with the highest interest rate first.
On a personal debt reduction plan, you make one reduced monthly payment to Money Management International/CCCS that is disbursed to your creditors. Best of all, you know when you will be debt free.
